CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Name: Orion Pax
Age: a couple thousand years.
Canon: Transformers: Prime
Canon Point: Shortly after Megatron storms out on the Council.
Character Information: Before he became Optimus Prime.

Personality: The most succinct description of Orion Pax's personality would be “a librarian turned revolutionary” - a primarily intellectual and idealogical character who willingly entered a world of discrimination and violence for only one reason: the pursuit of a better world. He has all the sorts of traits you would expect from a librarian – a thoughtful, studious disposition, a love for learning and reading, and the shy, cautious demeanour of someone who is more comfortable with books than people – but beneath all that there is a streak of something bolder. Orion Pax is a being with the kind of courage that doesn't come from speaking loudly or being aggressive, but instead a quiet strength. Orion will do the right thing when it's necessarily and will shoulder any burden if he considers it his responsibility, and he will do this regardless of the personal cost. His serious, quiet behaviour may make him come across as distant, but this is far from the case. He has some amount of compassion for almost every creature he's ever met, and a deep faith in the idea that there is the potential for good in everyone.

Orion Pax goes on to become Optimus Prime, the legendary leader of the Autobots and the savior of his people, but this is far before that. This is him as a young bot, where the years have not had the chance to wear away his innocence, and the burden of leadership has not hardened away some of his more emotional and uncertain qualities. One thing remains with him throughout it all, though: his belief that every sentient being deserves freedom, and that even the most corrupted souls deserve a chance for redemption.

Orion grew up on Cybertron as nothing more than a data archivist, meaning that he spent every day analyzing and sorting communications and media data, fostering a contemplative disposition that would stay with him through it all. He was more curious than his caste required or encouraged, and disinclined to ignore the suffering of those around him despite his generally comfortable, if caste-restricted, life. Specifically, over time, he began using his archive access to read about the almost forgotten history of Cybertron - and with this information, he began piecing together an unpleasant trend of cultural oppression, and how the functionalist caste system so many bots suffered under had come to be. He realized that Cybertron wasn't okay the way it was, and that things needed to change if the oppression of the lower castes was ever to be stopped. But his rebellious thoughts didn't meet action until he discovered the movement surrounding an incredibly low caste construction worker called Megatron.

It's a complicated story, but the important point is that Orion was a young and largely untested nerd who threw himself into a world of violence and revolution. He became close friends with Megatron, and they bounced their philosophical and ideological thoughts off of each other until the revolution became a product of their combined minds. Megatron was always more violent in his intentions than Orion, and wasn't shy about telling everyone he knew about how he would change Cybertron even if it meant killing everyone in power personally. Orion wasn't completely reluctant to pursue violence, if necessary, but he held onto more idealistic hopes, dreaming that someday his and Megatron's words would convince society to change rather than their swords. However, he understood the suffering that Megatron and his people went through - he could not condemn a bot for fighting for freedom that he so desperately needed. Even Orion thirsted to be more than society would allow someone of his caste, and his wasn't nearly as bad as those beneath him.

When the chance for peaceful change came about, though, Megatron was not content with it. And when Cybertron's council declared that Orion was worthy of accepting the Matrix of Leadership instead of Megatron, Megatron's jealousy drove him to turn on Orion and declare war against the Council. As Orion enters the game, he will be coming right from the brink of that betrayal. Whereas a short while previous him and the Megatron were spearheading the revolution together, suddenly he's found himself not only being appointed the leader of his people, but discovering that he may soon be forced to consider his dear friend an enemy. It is his first venture into the true burden of leadership, and while he would go on to shoulder it for thousands of years to come, at this point he is still shaken and unsure. His personality type definitely follows the adage that the best king is a man who never wanted the throne.

Orion naturally speaks in a formal and polite manner, and while he is reserved in personality, he is not afraid of making very passionate, intense, and sincere statements whenever the opportunity arises. He is always very genuine and straightforward with his thoughts, but he can also be humble to the point of being slightly self deprecating, and has not yet developed the force of personality he would as Optimus Prime later in life. There is a certain presence that comes with his strength of heart, but in terms of mannerisms...well, he does come across like the shy and bookish sort. In the episodes where we see him in Transformers Prime, he has a distinct habit of averting his eyes from people when he's nervous or uncertain, and is always fairly cautious with his words. Despite his leadership potential, he respects the authority of others – a good example of this is that when he encounters a future version of Megatron, he goes from referring to him on a more personal basis to referring to him as “Lord Megatron” without question. If people have a title or a prefered way of being refered to he will most likely use it.

Despite the fact that he is respectful and cooperative with those that have earned it, though, he will not hesitate to stand up to someone if they are crossing a line. This is obvious in the fact that he actively seeks to question the status quo earlier in his life, but he will do this on a more personal basis as well. Having believed that him and Megatron were allies, he was willing to use his skills to help his friend decode a number of important files, but the moment Orion began to suspect that Megatron was using them for dubious purposes, he had no problem straight up telling Megatron that he was done helping with his sketchy bullshit and deleting all his progress for good measure. He knows when to follow and he knows when to stand his ground; he is always very concerned with trying to do the right thing, and does not take failure lightly.

He does, however, not know how to tell a good joke. This aspect of him never changes.

Roleplay Sample: From another game!

NOTE: Given that Cybertronians have no meaningful gender distinctions (or biological sexes) and don't personally identify with that kind of thing the same way humans do, despite using male pronouns Orion's human form is biologically female, because it is honestly all the same to him. He uses male pronouns by default, but he does not acknowledge any difference between the two, so he will not correct the use of female pronouns and neither will I. This has been mod approved.

hot dickings

They are lost in the forest. This happens a lot around here. However, it is the evening now, and the weather is brisk but tolerable. Tolerable enough that Orion is butt naked and bathing himself in a pond like a savage, because it turns out not cleaning yourself when you have human skin results in you feeling itchy and awful, especially when you've been rolling around in the dirt as much as been customary lately.

Not that being a robot psychologically leads to him being very sensitive about nudity. He slides in waist deep and makes an uncomfortable sound. Temperature, though...
